Chiesa di Santa Maria della Consolazione

Santa Maria della Consolazione is a 16th-century church located in the Rione Trastevere of Rome. It was designed by the architect Ottaviano Mascherino for the Confraternita di Santa Maria della Consolazione e della Morte, a charitable organization that provided assistance to the sick and the poor.

The church features a simple and elegant facade with two orders of pilasters and a triangular pediment. The interior has a single nave with a barrel-vaulted ceiling and side chapels with altarpieces by artists such as Cavalier d'Arpino, Giovanni Baglione, and Guido Reni. The church also houses a 16th-century wooden crucifix attributed to Jacopo Sansovino.

The church is not as well-known as some of the more famous churches in Rome, but it is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. It is located on Via della Lungara, just a short walk from the Gianicolo hill and the Ponte Sisto.
