A small mansion, modestly standing on Staraya Basmannaya Street, kept a secret for many years. Only the house of the Golitsyn estate of the XVIII century was seen in it, not assuming that another attraction was hidden within its walls. Only in 2003, during the restoration, workers came across white-stone masonry. Upon closer inspection, it turned out that it was built at the end of the 16th century. It turned out that the traveling palace of Vasily III served as the basis for the construction of the Golitsyn estate. At the same time, the layout of the historical monument has practically not changed.

By the way, the place for the construction of the traveling palace was not chosen by chance. It was here in 1395 that the icon of the Vladimir Mother of God was greeted, which, as believed in Russia, protected the state from the invasion of the conqueror from Central Asia, Tamerlane.

Now the traveling palace of Vasily III is also notable for the fact that it is the oldest secular building that has been preserved outside the Earth City.
