Piazza del Gesu

Piazza del Gesu is a square located in the heart of Rome. It is named after the nearby Jesuit church of the Gesu, which is considered one of the most important examples of Baroque architecture in the city. The square was designed in the 16th century by Giacomo della Porta and underwent several modifications in subsequent centuries.

In addition to the church of the Gesu, there are other important buildings located in Piazza del Gesu. One of them is Palazzo Carpegna, which was originally built in the 16th century and later renovated in the Baroque style. Another notable building is Palazzo Doria Pamphilj, a large palace built in the 17th century for the Pamphilj family, which now houses a museum with an extensive collection of art and artifacts.

The square is also home to several shops, cafes, and restaurants, making it a popular destination for both tourists and locals. Visitors can enjoy a meal or a drink in one of the outdoor cafes while taking in the beautiful architecture and vibrant atmosphere of the square.
