Parc André Citroën
Parc André Citroën, located in the 15th arrondissement of Paris along the banks of the Seine, is a modern urban park that spans 14 hectares. Built on the site of the former Citroën automobile manufacturing plant, it was inaugurated in 1992 and quickly became one of the largest and most innovative parks in Paris. Designed by landscape architects Gilles Clément and Alain Provost, the park combines lush green lawns, themed gardens, and architectural elements, creating a unique mix of nature and technology.
The park is divided into different thematic areas, each with a unique color and atmosphere, such as the Jardin Blanc (White Garden) and Jardin Noir (Black Garden). Visitors can explore two large greenhouses—one housing tropical plants and the other Mediterranean species, including orange trees. One of the main attractions is the Ballon Generali, a tethered helium balloon that rises 150 meters above the park, offering panoramic views of the city. The spacious lawns provide ample space for picnics, family gatherings, and outdoor activities, making the park a favorite spot for both tourists and locals.
Parc André Citroën is also equipped with various amenities, including playgrounds for children, ping-pong tables, and water jets that are particularly popular during the hot summer months. It is the only park in Paris that directly faces the Seine, offering a unique view of the river. The park reflects a blend of nature and postmodern design, with pathways leading visitors through its diverse landscapes, allowing them to enjoy a variety of experiences in one location.
