Grand Palais and Petit Palais
The Grand Palais and Petit Palais are two of Paris's most iconic cultural venues, originally constructed for the 1900 Exposition Universelle. Located along the Champs-Élysées, these architectural gems host some of the city’s finest art exhibitions and cultural events.
The Grand Palais is known for its monumental glass dome, an Art Nouveau masterpiece designed by architect Henri Deglane. This vast space has served as a venue for numerous major events over the years, including prestigious art salons, the Saut Hermès horse show, and runway shows during Paris Fashion Week. The Nave of the Grand Palais, however, is currently closed for renovations and is expected to reopen in time for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The Petit Palais, also known as the Musée des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris, is home to an extensive collection of art spanning from ancient times to the 20th century. It features works by renowned artists such as Delacroix, Courbet, Monet, and Cézanne. Visitors can also enjoy the beautiful courtyard garden, complete with colonnades, mosaic pools, and a café. Admission to the permanent collections is free, making it an accessible cultural destination for all visitors.
