Basilisk fountain
According to legend, the basilisk is a creature that has a rooster head, dragon wings, a toad's body, and a snake's tail. The basilisk fountain is a symbol of Basel — legend has it that the inhabitants of the city defeated the terrible basilisk and made its image the emblem of the city.
In response to the gift, a memorial plaque was installed in Basel, which reminds of the meeting of Alexander I with John Pestalozzi, which took place in a Swiss town.
