The opening of the Gilyarovsky Center was timed to coincide with two dates at once. First, the 162nd anniversary of the birth of the writer himself. Secondly, the 121st anniversary of the founding of the Museum of Moscow. However, on the mansion of the first half of the 20th century, where the new site was opened, you will not see a sign “I lived and worked in this building”. Gilyarovsky lived near the Center — in the first building of the ninth house of Stoleshnikov Lane. He spent 47 years of his life here. And the new museum has opened in building number five.

The next branch of the Museum of Moscow opened in early December 2017. The capital celebrated this with the Gileifest film festival, the program of which included works by novice directors.

Today, expositions are opened on the territory of the Gilyarovsky Center, master classes and performances are organized, and lectures are given. The initiators of the museum center still have a lot of ideas in store, so something interesting will always happen here.
