The height of the building is 172 meters, and the total indoor area is 65,000 square meters. Initially, the construction plan did not include the spire of the building. Later, it was decided to install a decorative spire made of steel sheets.

The Foreign Ministry building is famous for its non-trivial way of construction: the builders erected the high-rise building from top to bottom, initially installing the frame. At an altitude of 114 meters, there is still a fragment of the recent communist past — a huge coat of arms of the USSR.

The architecture of the Foreign Ministry building is distinguished by the integrity of the composition and the restrained decor. The tower silhouette was not originally present in the project, but Comrade Stalin insisted on the vertical aspiration of the building.
