Elagin Palace kitchen

The unusual building is a semicircle in plan and has two floors. The building was created by architect Carlo Rossi at the same time as the palace, in 1822.

The uniqueness of the design lies in the fact that the kitchen windows overlook the courtyard only. All the hustle and bustle remain inside, and from the outside, the building looks like another elegant pavilion. Exterior walls do not have windows at all. They are finished with niches in which statues of powdery stone are installed according to ancient originals.

If you approach the building from the main facade, you can see six elegant Doric columns propping up the portico on the front side of the building.
