four colonnade house

The construction of a building, the project of which belongs to the Russian architect A. F. Kokorinov, lasted for ten years — from 1750 to 1760. Originally, the four-colonnaded house was built for Count Ivan Shuvalov, a statesman and favorite of Empress Elizabeth I. The Ministry of Finance, and some time later, at the beginning of the 20th century, it became part of the Grigory Beckenson Trading Society.

In Soviet times, the building housed famous restaurants in Northern Palmyra “Severny”, “Baku” and “Shanghai”. Today, on the ground floor of the house with four colonnades there are the Tsar, Behemoth, Penabar and Mini clubs.
