Here, near the Vagankovo cemetery, an elegant small chapel is neatly attached.

This cemetery, located near the village of Novoe Vagankovo, owes its appearance to the plague epidemic. Over time, it turned into one large-scale burial site of that time.

In the old days, it was a custom in Moscow to bury the dead at churches and monasteries, where cemeteries were often located. But because of the plague, this custom had to be changed, and a Senate decree was issued, according to which dead patients were forbidden to bury in the city. In return, it was supposed to hold funerals in special cemeteries outside the city. This is how the Vagankovo cemetery appeared. But traditions are strong, and already in our time several churches and chapels have been built here at once, which can be attributed to the style of the Moscow Empire style. Among them is the Alexander Nevsky Chapel.
